As I type, with the wind blowing and heavy clouds threatening torrential rain, Caroline and Martin’s gorgeous June wedding seems a million years away! The couple had a really clear idea that they wanted their wedding to be fun and relaxed and were determined to keep everything as local as possible (so local in fact that Geoff was able to travel to the church on his bike!)
The wedding ceremony was held in the village church of Griston, just outside Watton, with the reception at Caroline’s parents’ cottage just a short drive away. Rosemary and John, Caroline’s parents, had done magnificent work in their garden to prepare for the big day – the cottage garden was in full bloom and the sweet peas were flowering in abundance. John had also spent several hours polishing and preparing his fabulous red MG for the occasion – which was glinting in the unbroken sunshine as I arrived to start the bridal preparation shots!
The only hiccup to the day came when we were told at the 11th hour by the priest taking the ceremony that there were to be no pictures during the service, which was a big disappointment to Caroline and Martin. However, Geoff was able take quite a few from the bell ringers’ gallery, where he had a camera on a tripod with a remote release, and no one spotted a thing!
After a glamorous exit from the church in the suitably decorated MG the couple arrived back at the cottage. Then it was drinks and lots of photos in the garden before the wedding breakfast and reception in a marquee at the end of the garden – decorated with bunting and lots of old photographs of previous family weddings. All of the tables had a photograph of Caroline and Martin at a place that had been important to them over the time that they had known each other. After the food and the speeches the evening light was just beautiful so we were able to take some more lovely shots of Caroline and Martin with the MG just before the dancing began…

From start to finish everything felt effortless. Nothing has been too much trouble and both of you are so approachable. On the day you were there but not there it never felt intrusive and you really got onboard with our wishes of it being very easy and relaxed. The price we paid is a bargain for what we received and I cannot recommend you enough. We are so glad we kept things ‘local’ and supported our local businesses as everything worked out so well.
