Love ’em or hate ’em the Year 11 Prom is now very much part of the English High School scene. Last year it was my son Tom’s turn and as I stood there with all the other parents watching the Prommers turn up in all their finery I must admit that had a bit of a lump in my throat as he arrived looking very dapper with his lovely prom date Katie! On Thursday evening this week Tom’s old school Neatherd High School in Dereham will be hosting its second Pre Prom Shopathon which will showcase over 20 local companies, supplying everything from dresses to transport. The evening will be compered by David Webster from BBC Radio Norfolk and Come Dine with Me fame and will also feature a fashion show of prom wear (male and female) modeled by students from the school and dancing from local group Stardance. I’ll be at the event as official photographer and am really looking forward to capturing all the action!
Dresses for the models at the show are being provided by Bella Boo from Swaffham and Dreams Bridal and Salters (boys tuxes) of Norwich; the tiaras and jewellery are being supplied by Just Add Silver in Dereham and the hair and makeup is being undertaken by Hair & Beauty Now from Toftwood.
Other participants include: Michael Lyons Photography, Mike Wormall Car Hire, Lisa Eagle Jewellery Designs, S&B Limousine Hire, Jules Jewells, Passionate about Gems, Forget me not Flowers, Tracy’s Beauty, Kels Belles, Sugarcane, CandyCorsages, Colours for You, Norfolk Limos, Harry Harris Fragrances and Balloons, Virgin Vie and Moss Bross. Tickets for the show can be bought for £2 in advance at Just Silver in Dereham or £2.50 on the door.
